Johanna Hofring

I'm very fond of the designs of Swedish eco-entrepeneur Johanna Hofring. This lovely dress is very elegant, and it reminds me of the Swedish forests.

Summer Dream

This lovely tunic by Swedish designer Gudrun Sjödén is perfect to wear while dreaming of summer. The tunic belongs to the winter collection 2011, and is inspired by Swedish painter Carl Larsson's wife Karin Larsson (1859-1928). As well as a painter, she was a gifted textile artist, and made their home in Sundborn, Dalarna into a piece of art.

(There are still some items from the Karin Larsson-collection left in the big winter sale at Gudrun Sjödén.)

Woolies

A soft cover of snow has finally arrived and it's cold and wintry outside. Blackbirds, bohemian waxwings and bluetits visit my balcony to eat seeds. I love going for a walk in the snow. Woolen socks keep the feet warm. Right now I have a craving for these beauties from Woolies.

Linnaea Borealis

Welcome to the beautiful world of Scandinavian folklore!

This blog is inspired by the deep forests, snowy mountains and cold seas of the north. Traditional Scandinavian handicraft and design are a reflection of this harsh, but also lovely northern nature. But influences also came from the vast plains of Russia and the biblical images of the gardens of the far East. Humans are never detatched from one another, but are connected by our common roots like the linnea flower (twinflower), a symbol of the north.
